List of Stephen Colbert Movies

Stephen Tyrone Colbert, born on May 13, 1964, is a multifaceted American personality known for his contributions as a comedian, writer, producer, political commentator, actor, and television host. Colbert's notable career includes hosting the satirical Comedy Central program "The Colbert Report" from 2005 to 2014 and subsequently helming the CBS talk program "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" since September 2015.
Colbert initially pursued studies to become a dramatic actor but found his interest shifting towards improvisational theater during his time at Northwestern University, where he crossed paths with Second City director Del Close. His professional career began as an understudy for Steve Carell at Second City Chicago. Here, he collaborated with comedians Paul Dinello and Amy Sedaris, co-creating the sketch comedy series "Exit 57." Colbert later wrote and performed on "The Dana Carvey Show" before reuniting with Sedaris and Dinello for the television series "Strangers with Candy," where he gained attention for his portrayal of the closeted gay history teacher Chuck Noblet.
One of Colbert's significant breakthroughs came as a correspondent on Comedy Central's news-parody series "The Daily Show," a role that brought him widespread recognition. In 2005, he left "The Daily Show" to host "The Colbert Report," a parody of personality-driven political opinion shows like "The O'Reilly Factor." In this program, Colbert portrayed a caricatured version of conservative political pundits, earning him acclaim and an invitation to perform as the featured entertainer at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner in 2006, a performance he delivered in character. This event contributed to "The Colbert Report" becoming one of Comedy Central's highest-rated series.
After concluding "The Colbert Report," Colbert was selected in 2015 to succeed the retiring David Letterman as the host of the "Late Show" on CBS. His influence and recognition in the industry are evident through his accolades, including nine Primetime Emmy Awards, two Grammy Awards, and three Peabody Awards. Colbert has been featured on Time's 100 Most Influential People list in both 2006 and 2012. His book, "I Am America (And So Can You!)," claimed the top spot on The New York Times Best Seller list in 2007, further cementing his impact in the literary world.
