Rajesh Mapuskar is an Indian film writer, director, and producer known for his work in both Hindi and Marathi cinema. Born on 26 September 1968 in Shrivardhan, a village in coastal Maharashtra, Mapuskar's early exposure to the world of films came from his family's ownership of a cinema hall. He began taking care of the cinema hall at a young age, handling tasks such as cleaning, taking bookings, and starting the films.

Mapuskar's career in the film industry started with his involvement in ad film production. He worked at Z Films and later founded Collective Efforts Films, a top-line producing company that handled ad films in India and abroad. During this time, he directed music videos for artists like Sonu Nigam, Jagjit Singh, and Mika.

His entry into mainstream Bollywood came when he formed a friendship with director Rajkumar Hirani. He worked as Chief Assistant Director on Hirani's directorial debut, "Munnabhai MBBS," and went on to assist in the films "Lage Raho Munnabhai" and "3 Idiots." All three films were produced by Vinod Chopra Films.

Rajesh Mapuskar made his writing and directorial debut with the film "Ferrari Ki Sawaari" in 2012. The film, produced by Vinod Chopra Films, received critical acclaim for its exploration of the father-son relationship. His next project was the Marathi film "Ventilator," a dark comedy on family relationships, which he both wrote and directed. "Ventilator" won several accolades, including the National Film Award for Best Director.
