Iswajeet Bora is an internationally acclaimed Indian film director, producer, writer, and editor born on August 8, 1979. His notable achievements include being the director of India's first carbon-neutral film during production, "Aisa Yeh Jahaan," which marked his directorial debut in 2015. Bora's film "God on the Balcony" (2020) received widespread recognition and won nine awards, including the Royal Bengal Tiger Trophy for Best Director at the 26th Kolkata International Film Festival and the German Star at the Indian Film Festival Stuttgart.
In 2021, Bora's film "Boomba Ride" was showcased at the Marché du Film during the Cannes Film Festival, and it went on to win the 69th National Film Awards for Best Mising language film.
Bora's early life traces back to the village of No. 1 Senchowa in Golaghat, Assam, India. Born to Purna Chandra Bora and Monju Bora, he started his creative journey by acting in amateur plays at the age of 16. He enrolled in the Evergreen Drama and Film Institute in Golaghat, where he delved into martial arts and achieved a black belt in 1999. Eventually, he shifted his focus to writing about films in Assamese newspapers and directing plays.
After receiving a degree in Assamese literature from Golaghat Commerce College in 2001, Bora moved to Mumbai to pursue film editing, solidifying his path in the Indian film industry. His unique contributions and success in the realm of cinema have earned him international acclaim and recognition.
